The Vine Discipleship Intensive is broken up into three main components:

+ learning about Scripture and the character of God, as revealed through Jesus Christ,
+ serving in the community,
+ and experiencing what it means to walk a fruitful, daily life with Christ.

  • VDI Learn focuses on the teaching and application of Scripture through weekly lectures, facilitated by Rebekah Mancino, and partnership with local pastors. Each VDI session is composed of a “pastor session,” where students will be led in a topical discussion by a local pastor or father/mother of the faith, as well as three hours of lecture.

  • VDI Service aims to engage students in service projects, with the vision of cultivating a heart that desires to serve, just as Jesus did (Matthew 20:28). Chris Mancino will coordinate with local pastors and community organizations to develop awareness of needs in the area and will partner with a previous VDI student to execute those service projects.

The Core Team will also meet 1-1 with students and their pastors to help them explore areas in their church to serve in.

On top of the scheduled VDI service projects, students will be expected to help facilitate monthly Vine Worship Nights.

  • VDI Experience offers an opportunity for students to be shaped by practical experiences of what it means to walk a fruitful life with Christ. Experience will be broken up into multiple components including:

    • Shadowing Opportunities: students will be able to choose from a list of local businesses and organizations to visit and learn what it looks like to be a discipleship in the workplace.

    • Intentional Prayer Times: each VDI day, students will start in a time of personal prayer and worship. There will also be times of intentional prayer over the VDI students from VDI staff and community members.

    • Mentorship: VDI students will be expected to find a mentor, from their church if possible, by week 5 of the semester. Their mentor should follow the following criteria:

      • Be available to meet at least twice per month.

      • Be willing to commit to intentionally praying for their student.

    • End of Year Project: students will implement what they’ve learned into two parts, culminating in a project by the end of the semester, and share that with other students and their supporters at the end of the semester.
