The Vine Discipleship Intensive is rooted in Ephesians 4 and guided by the following principles.
Every VDI student is expected to deeply value uphold these principles.
-
“...attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.” – Ephesians 4:13
We believe our ultimate purpose is not just to learn about God, but to become more like Him. Every conversation, choice, and relationship is an opportunity to glorify and encounter Christ, growing in maturity as His disciples. -
“Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.” – Ephesians 4:2
We reject pride and harshness. Instead, we choose humility, grace, and endurance, especially in how we treat one another. -
“Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.” – Ephesians 4:3
We strive for unity, not uniformity, by walking in peace, mutual respect, and love within the body of Christ, encouraging open discussions and correction founded in love. -
“Speaking the truth in love, we will grow...” – Ephesians 4:15
We are honest and courageous in our convictions, but always speak with gentleness and love, never using truth as a weapon. -
“Put off your old self… to be made new in the attitude of your minds.” – Ephesians 4:22–23
We resist the ways of the world and commit to a lifestyle of holiness in thought, word, and action, honoring God with our bodies and minds. -
“Do something useful with your own hands... so that you may have something to share.” – Ephesians 4:28
We value diligence and discipline, not for status or gain, but so we can serve and bless others with what we’ve been given -
“Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up...” – Ephesians 4:29
We commit to speaking life. Whether in private or public, our words should reflect Christ, bringing encouragement and grace to those who hear. -
“For I can testify about them that they are zealous for God, but their zeal is not based on knowledge.” - Romans 10:2
In everything we aim to learn, develop, and grow in during the discipleship intensive, we surrender to our higher and only mission to see God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit as they truly are. We put aside every opinion, bias, assumption, and empty pursuit for knowledge alone in order that we would grow in the fullness of truth.
